We Have Some News. The Shiny, 4-Star Kind.

Some mornings here, we do the usual stuff. We check bookings. We make sure the fireplace is ready for the next guests. We watch the mist lift over the mountain.
Then some mornings, we get to open an email that makes us stop and smile. This was one of those mornings.
We are genuinely proud to share that Sable Mountain has officially been graded as a 4-Star Self Catering Guest House by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) .

For those who do not spend their days thinking about tourism grading criteria, here is what that actually means for you.
It means someone very picky came to stay.
The TGCSA does not hand these stars out lightly. They assess everything. Cleanliness, obviously. But also the quality of your facilities, the service standards, and whether the overall experience matches the promise. They are thorough. They check the things you notice and the things you probably do not .
Passing that test feels good. It confirms what we have tried to build here since day one. A place that feels like a proper escape, but with all the comforts you actually want after a day on the trails.
What the 4 Stars mean for your next trip.
If you are looking at the website trying to decide where to book, the star rating is a shortcut. It tells you that you are not guessing. You are not rolling the dice on an unknown cottage.
You are booking a place that has been independently verified. A place where the kitchen actually works. Where the beds are genuinely comfortable. Where the water is hot and the view is exactly what you came for.
And there is more to do than ever.
The grading council also took note of what makes this spot special. The things you can do when you are not just sitting on the deck (although, honestly, sitting on the deck is a solid option).
You can hike. The trails around Sabie are some of the best in the country. You can disappear into the forest for a few hours and come back ready for a braai.
You can get off-road. Bring the 4×4. The mountains and passes around here are built for exploring.
And we are proudly family friendly. That means space for everyone to spread out. A safe environment. And hopefully, a few less “are we there yet?” moments.
So, the new logo will go up on the site. The 4 stars will sit there as a little mark of quality. But the important part has not changed. We are still here to make sure your time in Sabie is exactly what you needed it to be.
Come and see what 4 stars in the mountains actually feels like.
